Welcome to our Year 2 page, below are some photographs of the work we have been doing and also some information on our current topic.
This term in Year 2 our new Cornerstones topic is The Scented Garden.
In Science, the children will be planting seeds and observing growth. We will be conducting growing experiments to find out exactly what plants need to grow and we will be naming parts of flowers and plants. The children will be looking at a range of non-fiction books to classify and name plants, flowers and minibeasts.
We will be visiting The Willows Garden Centre to look at the different plants and flowers they have there. We will then visit Morrisons to look at the fruit, vegetables and herbs.
During our topic, we will be exploring our five senses through a number of experiments including smelling flowers and herbs. We will also do some observational drawings and learn about the artist Van Gogh, creating our own version of Sunflowers.
We will be making maps of our school grounds and looking at some of the plants that we have in our area, seeing if we can name some of them.
We will be learning about the Rainforest and the sorts of plants and animals that live there. What a busy term!
