Curriculum Intent
PE Intent
At Charles Baines, we aim to inspire all children and for each child to fulfil their potential.
We want the children’s experience of PE to be positive and motivating. PE enables pupils to become physically confident. This supports their health, wellbeing and fitness and provides the foundations for lifelong activity.
We want them to succeed and excel in competitive sport and physical activities. We offer all children chances to compete in sport and other activities. This helps them build character and learn values such as fairness and respect.
Through PE, we develop the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding. They build confidence and competence in a range of activities.
At Charles Baines, we try to involve a range of ages and abilities in out-of-school competitions and experiences that might spark a passion for years to come.
Our curriculum is created to show longevity and continuation, as well as opportunities for all children to learn a new skill, as well as fall in love with sport.
In KS2, Y5 and Y6 children are taken to the local swimming pool to help them swim 25 meters by the time they leave us in Year 6.
To summarise, Charles Baines offers inclusion, opportunities and experiences for all children to take part in.
