How Will The School Prepare And Support My Child To Join The School?
We have links with our feeder nurseries with Honeypots Preschool being attached to our school. To ensure a smooth transition we:
Send the Foundation Stage teacher and teaching assistants to visit the nurseries to meet your child;
Receive and use relevant paperwork from the nursery, e.g. your child's learning journey, any SEN or medical information;
Arrange transition visits before your child starts school;
Hold a welcome meeting before the children start school, where you will meet staff in school including your child's class teacher, get information about how the school runs, the order of the day and the chance to visit your child's classroom.
Transition booklets are also sent home to support your child with the transition to school.
Transition between year groups also involves:
Sharing of information between class teachers (including paperwork and successful strategies);
Class swap days where your child will meet their new teacher.
Parent open session late in the Summer term to meet your child's new teacher.
Transition booklets are also completed at school for a move to the next year group.
